In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge form and convention or real media? With different colours and choice of bands. I included a date and barcode which I never really notice on magazines but when pointed out I realised without them my magazine wouldn’t sell because the barcodes need to be scanned to purchase and the date so you know if the magazine is last weeks or how often they send out issues.
How does it represent them?
My magazine is mostly for females because of the fact all the bands are females so they can relate to them. I think its for middle class because of the fact all the people are the same until they were famous and some still are plus the quizzes and prizes because they don’t have enough money to pay for some for the prizes they offer.
What kind of media institution might distribute your product and why?
My magazine represents the middle class because at the end of the magazine it has many quizzes and prizes to be won which upper class wouldn’t need as they have the money to buy those things. My music genre is also targeted at middle class not upper class because upper class generally listen to classic where as mine is rather punk, Indie, metal. I have targeted my magazine at any race because of its multi genre and layout throughout. I have aimed it at mostly females as the bands are all female but with the hint as masculinity in its colours and choice of background. And for any sexuality. Basically anyone who buys IPC magazines. I think the photos i used represent rock because of the style (brick walls) colours (brown, black). I chose to keep the magazine plain but effective to look more professional like a micro.
What kind of media institution might your product and why?
My music magazine is an IPC magazine because even though it’s a magazine for all genres’ it is mostly rock. IPC magazines are Kerrang.
Who would be the audience for your media product?
The audience of my magazine are teenagers to young adults, 14 -21. I asked the age range I chose what music they listen to, how many magazines they buy and why they buy them to see if I could include what they like to make it better. I also looked at several magazines that sell mostly to the same age range and take what they include and how they present it. I also chose this audience because if I changed the price to lower then the magazine out there now that are also IPC magazines then might buy mine because of the lower price too.
How did you attract/address your audience?
I attracted my audience by choosing a layout that suited any genre but more mostly rock like my band. I included quizzes and goodies to attract people to want to buy the magazine. I included a basic masthead to stand out, look pro fissional and suite all genres.
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
I used paint and photo plus to manipulate my photos and background image by adding and changing colour, shape and rotation. I did not use the chroma key because I decided to change the colour of the photo to suite my genre and the background.
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
I have learnt that using serif photo plus and page plus isn’t easy as using paint but more effective. I have improved abit with my photo manipulation and making everything look more professional.
How would your improve your product?
I would change my photos and take them with the chroma key to change the background. And take different photos to make it look like the photo shoot was with the band together and more professional.

school magazines
Masthead
I designed one to represnt two genres of music that are opposites that are used in music together to create a good song.I changed the colour and font in pageplus to suite the genrew of music they represent.
PRIME I then decided to make a multiple genre magazine to appeal to majority of the population which meant the masthead had to represent different genres or plain i chose plain because of my background.
magazines
•Good masthead for the style of music featured in the magazine.
All the text stand out and still blend in witht the pictures.
the background colour suites the picture and the genre of music chosen.
The smaller picture looks like it is with the bigger picture but on its own with a diffrent article at the smae time.

•The masthead is in front of the centre image which makes it stand out and be recognisable.
•The colours used are basic but effective and make everything stand out.

I think that this magazine is very calm.
They cover up the Masthead but leave a space so that you can read words at the top but not by the masthead.
The magazine colours and bands are for both female and male.

•This magazine is giving away a free mix CD to attract buyers.
•Its male orientated by having the centre image as a girl in a bathing costume in a pool. Also the CD in boys noize.
This is a good magazine for pop because its bright and has four popular pop singers as the centre image. They choose a good background to suite the title or the other way round depending on how old the magazine is because they wont change the masthead but make the pictures and writings. The magazines colour and style is very eye catching because of the brightness and popularity of the celebrities. This magazine is very male and female because of the artists they include like springsteen and eminem. The picture could seem both because of the way one of them are dressed or by the fact there all women but the style of there music is female orientated.
•This magazine seems elegant and calm like the music it represents.
•The colours are mainly white and red to blend and stand out at the same time.
•There giving away a free CD to attract buyers.
•Its put the most popular celebrities to also play classical music as a profession on the front cover as a centre image.
Rock music is very female and male orientated depending on which band which is why kerrang uses a fair few bands on the front cover to apply to most styles and bands.Even thought there are a few photos they do blends in apart from the ones top right which they should of missed out or put in front of the centre images arm.
The colours do make the writing stand out and seem loud which rock music is supposed to be but it is abit in your face and busy.
The fact they are the only magazine with an interview a bands new album is hardly noticeable.

I did a questionnaire to find out information about different magazines to help me find out what type of things to put in my school magazine. I asked questions like what magazines do they read if any, how many do they buy or how oftern, how much they would spend on a magazine and whats there favorite part of that magazine because they would help me understand what price, items, articles ect to include on the magazine. I asked if the reputation of the magazine had anything to do with why they purchased it and if there friends brought the same magazines to find out if it was just the person im asking or if their group of mates do to so that as well as the 10 people i asked i could have more of an idea of what magazines people of a certian age group purchase. I also asked questions like hwo many duifferent types of magazines do you buy and if they read them closely or just skim through to know if i should include more photos then writing.

Ok magazine

•The readers of this magazine would probably eat toast, cereal, fruit, cereal bars or skip breakfast.
•They would probably travel by car, bus, train, bike normal transport fro working class people.
•They would most likely like in a flat, uni, travellers, house anything really this magazine appeals to people in there 18’s to 34’s so really they could live in any and many accommodations.
•They would probably drink tea, coffee, fizzy pop, alcohol ect. And eat normally to this magazine isn't really filled with things on how to loose weight or be healthy more about celebs and their lives so I don’t think it would effect there eating or drinking habits.
•They might play spot but more than likely watch a lot of spot seen as many of the celebs featured in the magazine are sports stars.
•They could be single or taken it doesn’t really give away any clues for that.
•Sunny places where celebs are spotted.
•There are some articles of political interest so I think they might vote but not really for any person for any reason that strongly.
•They would probably go to the same clubs featured in the magazine.
magazine cover

Big bright heading so the customer can easily recognise with magazine it its.
Snippets of stories that are in the magazine because if they read the cover and realise something about a celebrity or something that they didn’t know they will buy the magazine to find out more.
Larger text on certain words to draw in people to look at and purchase the magazine.
Magazines feature a big picture as the centre image to show the big story featuring in the magazine.
Some magazines put there website on their magazine so you can look up the website and see the latest news and features.
Prize give away to readers only, so people who want the prize have to buy the magazine and it might make people want to buy it for the prizes available.
Pictures to attract buyers to want to buy the magazine to find out what the pictures about and find out what's happening.
All magazine’s have things called poofs on the cover which basically show and tell you parts of the story inside the magazine so you will want to read inside.
So you know the magazine has new stories that not many people know.
All magazines have bar codes, prices, and the date the magazine was realised and able to purchase. Some also have what number issue the magazine is.

People who read glamour magazines would eat healthy alternaties beacuse most of the ancoring texts are about how to get thin stay thin and how to look your best at all times.
Most people who read this magazine would travel by car, bike, train and bus because this magazine is for middle class people who want to look like celebs.
They wouldn't have flashy houses like celebs but readers of glamour would have stylish houses either inside or out seen as the magazine is about keeping up apperances and looking your best.
They would drink healthy as they would eat like smoothies water ect because they want to keep thereselves looking and feeling young. But also probably go out a fair bit and drink a lot like celebs.
They would watch celebrity shows like next top model.
They would listen to music like pop, rnb, classical pop, top 40, mtv hits ect because there popular there in and there cheery.
Seen as most texts in the magazine are about looking good and feeling good readers of this magazine would eat healthy food. They wouldnt really play sport but run a little and go to the gym to exercise. They could have a partner or not depends because they could want to look good for thereselves, someone or to get someone. They would go to places for there holiday or pubs where celebs were pictured incase they would spot some celebs or to have the same holiday as them to look the same. I dont think many of the readers would vote its not really political reading.

this advert is alpen ceral.
it has put two teddy bears repersets the sweetness of the ceral and then the outfits are ment to repersent the not so sweet part of the ceral.
the colours on the advert all blend together and match almost and the black background is used so the teddys bears and the alpen ceral box stand out.
